City of Delaware
Welcome to Delaware
The City of Delaware is located about 30 miles north of downtown Columbus. It is an independent community that retains its small town qualities while benefiting from the northward growth from Columbus. Delaware County has been the state's fastest growing county for more than a decade and is among the top 20 fastest growing, wealthiest and most-educated areas in the nation. The City population exceeds 34,000 and has been home to many families for generations. It is also an appealing place for young families to move, attracted to the quality of life and its proximity to areas like Delaware State Park and the Alum Creek State Park where residents enjoy boating and fishing and the full variety of water sports. Delaware is also the home of the Little Brown Jug, the crown jewel of harness racing's Triple Crown. The cultural amenities of Columbus are available nearby, as well. Ohio Wesleyan University, offers a symphony orchestra, art gallery, historical society and libraries for the most demanding cultural needs. The city also offers shopping variety and convenience, including a unique downtown historic business district.
